Haryana is well known for its culture and delicious food and at Surajkund Craft Mela you can enjoy the both so here are some main features which you will able to see in this Fair this year (1-15 th February 2010)

Surajkund Craft Mela is very prestigious and colorful fair of Haryana which is not only famous in India but also attracts many tourists from all over the world.

It held every year from 1st to 15th February. This fair is open for the visitors from 9.30 every morning to 7.00 p.m. every evening. This fifteen days fair is full of entertainment and also introduce you to the many types of Kraft and art work from the rural areas of all over the nation.

Main attractions of the Fair

1.Unique crafts from SAARC nations.

2.Traditional food especially from Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana. You can also enjoy the taste of Chinese and Continental dishes.

3.Kite Making and Kite Flying Competition.

4.Face painting competition for children.

5.Painting competitions for school children.

6. Shop till you drop as there are so many things which you surely like to buy like painted suits, sarees, scarves, shawls, jewellery, durries, carpets, furniture, cane and jute crafts and a range of terracotta, brass and marble souvenirs.

7. You can also enjoy the performance of the local performers and can enjoy the puppet shows at the Natyashala from 6.00 p.m. onwards

8. Children can also enjoy the camel ride here.

How to reach

Surajkund lies in the Faridabad district which is just 8 kms away from the South Delhi and very well connected via road.

•You can take the Special conducted tours which are available from Haryana Tourist Bureau at 36, Janpath, New Delhi.

•You can also take the direct buses from ISBT and Sarai Kale Khan or from Haryana Emporium, Baba Kharak Singh Marg.

•You can also hire Tourist cabs/ tourist coaches to the venue from Delhi very easily at affordable prices or if you have your own conveyance than you can go by your own.

•If you are a tourist and coming to this fair through air than the nearest airport will be Delhi. You can reach here after the drive of 35 minutes from the Indira Gandhi International Airport and it is 25 km away from the Palam Airport.

•You can also reach here through train as Faridabad and Gurgaon both linked to Delhi via Railway lines. From each of these stations you can reach Surajkund by car or any means of road transport.
