But the real celebrations of Holi begin with lighting up of bonfire on the Holi evening. This symbolizes the victory of Bhakt Prahald over the evils of Holika. Than come the real Holi on which all the air is full with the different colors of Holi and the cheer up saying, "bura na maano Holi hai".

Holi gets its new color in every state but in Haryana its get the new name 'Dulandi Holi'.

In Haryana Holi is basically the festival between the devar and bhabhi on this day, bhabhi - the brother’s wife gets an upper hand on the day of Holi. And, devar's - husband's younger brothers need to watch out.

In some areas of Haryana bhabhi's are free to beat their devars and no one feels odd and also gives some price for their mischievous. This make the relationship of the both sides strong and also it gives the feeling that she is the part of family.

In the evening, devars are supposed to bring sweets for their dear bhabhi.

People apply colors on each other and every one looks a like as there is no difference of caste and religion all are seems to be sail in the boat of joy. Any hard feeling of animosity is forgotten on the day and a general feeling harmony and happiness prevail.

Holi in Haryana has Break the pot custom



In Haryana the tradition of breaking the pot is celebrated with great enthusiasm. Young age group boys make a human pyramid to break the pot of buttermilk hung high up in the street much like Lord Krishna did as a child and the womenfolk pour buckets of color water at men trying to break the pot.

All this make the Holi really very enjoyable. In the evening people visit the dear and near’s house to enjoy the dinner or Holi parties.

Food is also the important aspect of Holi women’s of the house made many kinds of recipes which are really very nice and mouth watering like Gujia, Pakora, Kachori, Dal Vada, and many other things to please and welcome the guest’s on Holi.

Men’s also prepare bhang drink and Thandai on this day to celebrate the Holi. Bhang Pakoras are also very famous on this day.

But also remember to Play safe. Don't get to boisterous and do not let others to be rude on you. only play with them who want to play do not force anyone to play or drink on this day as Holi is the festival of colors and to remove differences so it is good to celebrate this great festival in a decent way.
