HCS (Judicial Branch) Preliminary Examination 2012 syllabus for preliminary and main examination


Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) conducts HCS Judicial Branch Exam every year for recruitment of Civil Judge (Junior Division). Here we are with HCS Judicial Branch Exam 2012 syllabus for preliminary and main examination which helps you to prepare well for examination.

HCS Judicial Branch Exam is conducted by HPSC every year for the recruitment of Civil Judge (Junior Division). The HCS Judicial Branch examination shall be conducted in three stages as mentioned below.

• Preliminary Examination
• Main Examination
• Viva-Voce

HPSC HCS Judicial Branch Exam 2012 Syllabus for Preliminary Examination


The HPSC HCS Judicial Branch Exam 2012 Preliminary Examination question paper will consist 125 objective type with multiple-choice questions, each question will carry 4 marks for every correct answer and for every wrong answer one mark shall be deducted. Total duration of the Preliminary Examination will be two hour. Candidate must have ability to answer questions on current events of national and international importance, Indian legal and constitutional history, governance and the analytical skills and aptitude of the candidates. Question paper will be based on syllabus of graduate level. There shall be no minimum pass marks in the Preliminary Examination.

HPSC HCS Judicial Branch Exam 2012 Syllabus for main Examination


Written examination will have five test papers followed by a viva voce oral paper as mentioned below. Marks allotted for the each question paper will be 200.

Paper-1: Civil Law-1 will consist of question based on Code of Civil procedure, Punjab Courts Act, Indian Contract Act, Indian partnership Act, Sale of Goods Act, Specific Relief Act, and Indian Evidence Act.

Paper-II: Civil Law-II will consist of question based on Hindu Law, Mohammadan Law and Customary Law, Law of Registration and Limitation

Paper-III: Criminal Law of will consist of question based on Indian Penal Code, Criminal Procedure Code and Indian Evidence Act

Paper-IV: English will consist of the following:-
• English Essay– 100 Marks
• Précis – 25 Marks
• Words and Phrases (Make sentences of the given words and Phrases) – 25 Marks
• Comprehension – 25 Marks
• Corrections – 25 Marks

Paper-V: Language- Hindi (in Devnagri Script) will consist of the following:-
• Translation (English passage to Hindi)- 20 marks
• Explanation of Hindi passage in prose and poetry in the same language- 30 marks
• Composition (essay) , idioms and corrections: 50 marks



HPSC HCS Judicial Branch Exam 2012 Syllabus for viva voce


Candidates who successfully passed the preliminary and main examination will be called for the viva voce of 200 marks which is conduct to judge the personal qualities, alertness, intelligence and general outlook of the candidates. Viva voce shall be conducted in English.
